e-Pathshala Portal : Access digital textbooks for all classes, Access graded learning materials, Participate in exhibitions, contests, festivals, workshops, Access audios, videos, interactives, images, maps, question banks, etc.

e-Pathshala Mobile App: The digital India campaigns has promoted extensive use of ICTs in the teaching learning process. The ePathshala, a joint initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has been developed for showcasing and disseminating all educational e-resources including textbooks, audio, video, periodicals, and a variety of other print and non-print materials. Students, Teachers, Educators and Parents can access eBooks through multiple technology platform that is mobile phones and tablets (as epub) and from the web through laptops and desktops (as Flipbook). ePathshala also allows user to carry us many books as their device supports. Features of these books allow users to pinch, select, zoom, bookmark, highlight, navigate,share and make notes digitally.

Saaransh Portal : Saransh is a tool for comprehensive self-review and analysis for CBSE affiliated schools and parents. Saransh Portal :
Saransh is a tool for comprehensive self-review and analysis for schools and parents. It enables them to analyze students performance in order to take remedial measures. Saransh brings schools, teachers and parents closer, so that they can monitor the progress of students and help them improve their performance.
Shala Darpan :  This initiative is taken by Collector Balaghat (MP) in which a simple android based mobile application is being used to capture inspection details.

“i-Share for India” :   The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has started an initiative to invite interested groups/agencies/organization/community to participate in the creation of an educational resources pool for School and Teacher Education. Mobile enabled Apps / Web based ICT supplementary resources of school education/teacher education in any Indian language can be contributed. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched its latest mobile application ‘E-CBSE’ for providing e-learning material for students and teachers. According to a report in Press Trust of India (PTI), an official release stated, “The new app was jointly launched by Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu and HRD Minister Smriti Irani in the presence of the CBSE Chairman YSK Seshu Kumar.” The release further added, “This is an endeavour to enrich the student and the teacher communities by providing various learning and teaching resources to supplement and compliment curriculum transactions. This is in addition to the resources available for students provided by NCERT.” E-CBSE is a part of the ongoing Digital India. Digital India is an initiative by the Government of India to make sure that Government services are made available to citizens, electronically. The initiative commenced on July 1, 2015 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This plan will help in rural areas with high-speed internet networks. It comprises of three main components i.e. the creation of digital infrastructure, delivering services digitally and digital literacy. – Courtesy

There are several new initiatives like ePathshala and eBasta (which I never really could get my arms around; in any case it has no more that about 6,500 downloads in the past 6 months) that aim to bring free and paid digital versions of textbooks and learning materials to the mobile devices in online and offline modes. Government continues to exercise muscle power in online learning, being the main funder and the largest scale provider, probably to the angst of private players. A realization also seems to be seeping in that offline versions are key (look at what Khan Academy Lite is trying to do) and so is multi-lingual content (Khan Academy Hindi). Be that as it may, these are moves that utilize technology for some kind of dissemination, hardly moves that are going to improve education. Elsewhere, government is also waking up to the fact that it needs to put information systems online, such as Saransh. […]
