COIMBATORE: The University Grants Commision (UGC) will disburse all fellowship and scholarships  through Direct Benefit Transfer from April 1. The apex regulatory body has asked universities to make payments to eligible students till March 31 from its own fund, which will be reimbursed. The UGC Secretary Jaspal S Sandhu said on Thursdaythis will be applicable for nine UGC schemes – National Eligibility Test- Junior Research Fellowship, DS Kothari Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Sciences, BSR Fellowships in Sciences for Students, Post-Doctoral Fellowship for Women (Unemployed), Post-Doctoral Fellowship for SCs and STs, Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for SC, ST candidates, Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students, BSR Faculty Fellowship and PG Scholarship to GATE or GPAT qualified candidates.

The  HRD ministry extended the deadline for its review committee to look in to Non-NET and NET Fellowships to March 31. –  Courtesy     /    UGC Public Notice reg.: Fellowships and Scholarships
