*** The Council has put in place several initiatives to bring about changes in the Approval Process by introducing greater transparency and accountability through the e-governance. The emphasis this year has been to simplify the procedures and greater ease in the approval process through informal and formal interactions with all stakeholders. The role of AICTE, as a true facilitator of quality technical education is evident from the changes made in the Approval Process Handbook along with revised Gazette Policy Regulation No. F.No:AB/AICTE/REG/2016 of AICTE dated November 30, 2016. This is expected to create an academic ambience in the Technical Institutions for nurturing and supporting quality so that technical education in India will be one of the best in the world. Supporting Institutions for Autonomy, Accreditation of Programmes, Ranking ofInstitutions, schemes such as Margdarshan, Adjunct Faculty, Trainee Teacher and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan,launching of Student Startup Policy 016, Smart India Hackathon 2017, a MOOCs platform SWAYAM are afew of the important initiatives embarked upon by AICTE.

PUBLIC NOTICE FOR APPROVAL PROCESS 2017-2018
AICTE invites applications for approval from all the existing and proposed technical institutions for conducting technical programs/courses including courses of Management for the academic session 2017-2018 as per the following:
(a) Applications for “Setting up New Technical Institutions offering Technical Programs (Engineering & Technology/ Pharmacy / Architecture and Town Planning /Applied Arts & Crafts /Management/ HMCT / MCA) at Degree/Post Graduate Degree /Post Graduate Diploma /Diploma / Post Diploma levels affiliated to Universities/ Concerned Board of Technical Education”.
(b) Applications from Existing Technical Institutions offering Technical Programs (Engineering & Technology/Pharmacy / Architecture and Town Planning/ Applied Arts & Crafts / Management/ HMCT / MCA) at Degree/Post Graduate Degree /Post Graduate Diploma /Diploma / Post Diploma levels affiliated to Universities/ Concerned Board of Technical Education for “Change of Site/ Location, Closure of Institution, Conversion of Women’s Institution into Co-Ed Institution and vice-versa, Conversion of Diploma Level into Degree Level and vice-versa,Extension of Approval / Continuation of approval after a break in the preceding academic year/ Restoration, Increase inIntake/ Additional Course(s),Addition of Integrated/ Dual Degree Course,Fellowship Programme in Management, Introduction/ Continuation of supernumerary seats for OCI/PIO/ Foreign Nationals/ Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf Countries, Introduction/ Continuation of seats for sons/ daughters of NRIs, Change in name of the Course/ Reduction in Intake/ Closure of Programme and/or Course, Change in name of the Institution, Change in name of the Trust/ Society/ Company, Change of Affiliating University/ Board”.
(c) Submission of online applications for the session 2017-2018 in respect of all approvals as above shall be ginon5thJanuary, 2017and shall end on 4thFebruary, 2017.The last date for submission of online application for Extension of Approval (with penalty as per the provisions of APH 2017-18)fore xis ting Institutions only,is permitted up to9th February, 2017. It may be noted that there will be no further extension of date under any circumstances.
(d) Processing of all applications submitted online for the s e s s ion 2017-2018in respect of all approvals as above shall be gin on 5th February, 2017and shall end on 10th April, 2017. All applicants are requested to read the AICTE Approval Process Hand Book (2017-018) and Regulations of All India Council for Technical Education (Grant of approval for Technical Institution) Regulation, 2016 very fully and thoroughly, before submitting online applications on AICTE Web Portal for the acadmic session 2017-2018.
The introduction of National Digital Depository for storing all students’ educational Certificates, all fee collections and scholarship disbursals through cashless digital means are major changes initiated by the Government of India and implemented by AICTE.
