HYDERABAD: Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (Meil), the Hyderabad headquartered infrastructure firm, has entered the Limca Book of Records for fastest completion of river linking project of Pattiseema in Andhra Pradesh, linking rivers Krishna and Godavari. Meil, which currently has over Rs 54,000 crore of construction orders on hand in irrigation, drinking water supply, sewerage treatment, roads, power and hydrocarbon, had completed the river linking project within a year in March last year. According to the Limca Book of Records, it is “the first such irrigation project in the country to be completed in time and without any budget enhancements.” The Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme has one of the largest pump houses in Asia with 24 pumping units spread across 7,476 square metres with a combined capacity to discharge 240 cubic metres of water per second. While pumps were supplied by Kirloskar Company and WPIL, the motors for the Rs 1,300 crore of project were provided by BHEL and Shanghai Electric Company. Under the project, meant to benefit the farmers in the Krishna River Delta area, the pumps deliver water drawn from river Godavari at Pattiseema into Polavaram project main canal. Pattiseema lift irrigation project was among few others whose timely execution helped the Hyderabad headquartered infrastructure firm report impressive growth in both topline and bottomline during FY2016. Meil had reported a revenue of Rs 8,454 crore during the fiscal ended March 2016, a growth of 34.9% over Rs 6,265 crore in the previous fiscal. During the year, the company has also reported highest growth of 55.4% in net profit at Rs 1,152 crore (Rs 741.2 crore) – Courtesy /   http://meil.in/
