In order to take agiant leap in the number of accredited technical institutes  and to improve the overall quality of technical education in the country,a special drive is already made by MHRD I AICTE under Margadarshak Scheme. Superannuated Professors from llTs/NITs/Engineering Institutions willing and having knowledge of Accreditation process / Outcome Based Education may apply in the following link to act as Margadarshak.

Each Margadarshak will guide a few mentee institutes close to their residence/other convenient cities and help them in improving the performance parameters vital for accreditation of the program by NBA. The details of the scheme are available on the following link  The particulars may be uploaded preferably by  301  April, 2019.

The Technical Education has improved substantially in the country in the past few decades but its quality still remains a serious concern. Presently, merely 16% of the programmes offered by Technical Institutions in the country are accredited by the NBA, which is not a satisfactory situation. Recently, some countries have even stopped recognizing the degrees of Indian technical institutions not accredited by NBA, putting the Indian technical degree holders intoserious problems. Therefore, quantum efforts are needed to be made by all stakeholders so that maximum programmes of technical education are accredited in the next few years. By the year 2022, it is envisioned that the percentage of technical programmes accredited should increase from 16% to 50%. AICTE/MHRDhas devised a new scheme called “Margadarshak”. In this scheme Mentors (Margadarshaks) are identified for institutions which are yet to get NBA accreditation. These ‘Margadarshaks’ can be serving or preferably superannuated, willing and motivated teachers having good knowledge of the process of accreditation and can devote adequate time to make required visits toguide these Institutions. These Margadarshaks shall function from prestigious institutes identified as Nodal centers/Mentor Institutes. The Scheme envisages that every Mentor Institution will have a few Education Experts/Mentors/Guides (called ‘Margdarshaks’), housed in Mentor Institution, who will guide/mentor few Institutes, located near their place of residence/institutes, to improve the required quality parameters in the institutes to enable them to apply for NBA accreditation of their programmes. The Margadarshaks would assist in training the teachers, Outcome Based Education (OBE), improving the pedagogy, focus on technical skill, life skills, Innovation and creating capacity and capacity to solve problems among students, developing better teaching learning, and assessment including Laboratory or practicals. Co-curricular and extra-curricular components also be an integral part of responsibility of Margadarshaks. In OBE, designing Programme Outcomes (POs) for a programme & Course Outcomes (COs) foreach course are desired to be done. The maximum number of visit per Margadarshak per month canbe ten. They will be paid honorarium of Rs. 5,000 / visit and travel expenditure as per the provisions of the scheme.  AICTE Circular       –   Scheme Document        /            Online Application Form
